Healthy Whiz Kids

 In collaboration with USAID

Challenge

Every year in Ethiopia, nearly 381,000 children under the age of five die from a preventable disease. 70% of these child deaths are due to one of five causes: pneumonia, diarrhea, malaria, measles, and malnutrition. Most child death due to illness is attributable to one thing – health illiteracy.

Solution

To enhance children’s and parents’ knowledge and positive attitudes towards hygiene, nutrition, safety, and other healthy behaviors, we developed 52 health episodes and complementary storybooks, and set up 412 school corners set up - television, shelf, Android video player, held 2 Community health festivals and trained teachers.
